What I'm up to - September 2023
I'm an entrepreneur with a background in product & design. You can connect with me on LinkedIn and Twitter 👋 I started my career in San Francisco at AKQA and Fitbit where I learned from experienced technologists and caught the entrepreneurial bug. I co-founded Moonlight, a marketplace to discover, hire, and pay experienced software developers. We bootstrapped to profitability, raised VC, and sold the platform in 2020. Realizing I'd never had a female boss, I joined theSkimm to re-launch their membership products. I went to business school at Chicago Booth, where I was an entrepreneur in residence at Chicago Ventures (read more about that journey here). Now, I'm the founder of Velvet - We make infrastructure to help startups identify their customers and take action. Reach out if you want to chat!

My name is Lindsay Crouse and I'm a Producer/Editor/Writer/Runner at The New York Times, where I've worked for over a decade. Drawing on my own experiences as a competitive athlete, I've been lucky to play a role in coverage of women athletes at The Times. The Emmy-nominated video series I produced, Equal Play, broke news by centering female athletes’ untold experiences and led to widespread reform in women’s sports. My reporting in 2019 exposed the lack of maternity protections that female professional athletes secretly faced at the time (featuring the experiences of Olympians Alysia Montano, Allyson Felix, and Kara Goucher, among others) — the result of a year-long investigation into industry standards, contracts, and the undisclosed toll of work and motherhood on female athletes. Combining my backgrounds in both video production and text reporting, the package changed maternity norms across the industry, including at Nike, which created a new policy to ensure pay for pregnant athletes over 18 months. As the Co-Executive Producer of Op-Docs, The Times’s series of short documentaries by independent filmmakers, I've produced nearly 400 short films, winning 4 Emmy awards (more than 20 nominations), 4 Oscar nominations, and 2 Peabody awards. Merging my background in women’s sports and documentary, I produced the first Oscar-winner for The Times (“The Queen of Basketball,” 2021). I'm a 2:53 marathoner and ran cross country at Harvard. Here is some of my work on women & sports you may have seen in The Times: "I'm 35 and Faster than I Ever Thought Possible" "How the 'Shalane Effect' Works" "Why Men Quit and Women Don't" And now, I'm on book leave! Hi there - I'm Mairin Jerse, a 2y graduate student @ The University of Chicago Booth in Chicago, IL. Before grad school, I spent four years @ GE Healthcare on their digital team, developing software, launching MVPs, deploying SaaS products to a global user base, and experimenting with bringing new tech into an old company on a globally distributed team. One meaningful experience I had was leading the product strategy for a process mining software, Celonis, an experience that helped jump start my interest in startups and the power of technology to solve age-old and modern questions and to shake industry architectures. While @ Booth, I've explored my interest in startups and entrepreneurship, spending the better half of my first year exploring startup ideas in the femtech space, before joining Techstars as a Business Development Associate and then fintech startup Aeropay as their second Product Manager. While I have spent most of my career in the healthcare sector, I am excited to expand my technical and product skills into other domains, such as fintech and AI. At Booth, I'm an active member of Chicago Women in Booth, Booth Technology Group, and I am a Co-Chair of The Entrepreneurship & Venture Capital Club (EVC). Outside of school & work, I'm an avid reader - I enjoy a mix of non-fiction, historical biographies, psychological explorations, and novels. My ultimate happy place is on my couch with Netflix's Cracking Birchwood Fireplace roaring on my television, no plans for the day, & a book in my hands. Would love to chat about: • Product management, product strategy, tech strategy, industry architecture • Startups, startup strategy, customer discovery, product market fit • Headspace, meditation, flow • Books, emerging authors Cheers! Mairin Phonetics: Mairin Jerse = "M-Erin Jerce"

Hi! My name is Joe Daft, and I’m the current Head of Robotics at Wise Robotics. I come from an agricultural, practically focused family, but my career has been in technical operations spanning manufacturing, e-commerce, telecommunications and local government globally over the last 17 years. Throughout my career in technical operations, I have specialised in seeking and applying new technologies to streamline processes whilst maintaining the simplicity of operations. Having solved numerous challenges and participated in projects ranging from warehouse operations, global ERP project rollouts (circa €15m) and building international relations, I am now applying my knowledge and skillset within the warehouse automation space by specialising in management across consultancy, sourcing, evaluation, design and implementation of a wide range of AMR-based robotics into key sectors including 3PL, manufacturing, logistics and e-commerce. I’m a boots-on-the-ground kind of guy, and I love meeting new clients, and their operations, testing theories and proving how new technology and operations can work together. 🔗 Connect with me on LinkedIn 📬 Send a message via Signal or WhatsApp
